NEW STUDY FINDS THAT THE NUMBER OF BATTERY-RELATED ED VISITS BY CHILDREN HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED IN RECENT YEARS
A new study
conducted by researchers at the Center for Injury Research and Policy has found
that the annual number of battery-related emergency department visits among
children younger than 18 years of age more than doubled over the 20-year study
period, jumping from 2,591 emergency department visits in 1990 to 5,525
emergency department visits in 2009.

NEW STUDY EXAMINES INJURIES ASSOCIATED WITH BABY BOTTLES, PACIFIERS AND SIPPY CUPS IN THE U.S.
A new study by researchers at the Center for Injury Research
and Policy and the Center for Biobehavioral Health found that approximately
2,270 children younger than three years of age are treated in U.S. emergency
departments each year for injuries associated with baby bottles, pacifiers and
sippy cups.

CDC ANNOUNCES THE U.S. NATIONAL ACTION PLAN FOR CHILD INJURY PREVENTION
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
announced the release of the U.S. National
Action Plan for Child Injury Prevention today to help guide a national
effort for preventing unintentional childhood injuries.
