EDUCATION & TRAINING
The Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) has a variety of education and training programs. By educating students from high school through post-graduate levels, as well as international scholars, CIRP’s programs generate global interest in injury prevention and train the future leaders in our field.
CHINA INJURY RESEARCH
This project seeks to develop the capacity of Chinese scholars to address agricultural injury prevention, as well as develop collaborative research on agricultural injuries between Chinese and U.S. investigators. In order to achieve this goal, short-term training of Chinese scholars in agricultural injury research is being conducted in both the United States and in agricultural regions of China. The specific aims of the training project are being achieved using a variety of training mechanisms designed for scientists who represent diverse academic disciplines.
INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM IN INJURY RESEARCH
The International Program of the Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) seeks to decrease the burden of injury mortality and morbidity worldwide. Globally, 90% of the approximate 900,000 annual pediatric deaths due to injury occur in middle- and low-income countries. CIRP’s program has three components: visiting injury research scholars, international injury speakers and global collaborations.
STUDENT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES IN INJURY RESEARCH
The Center for Research and Policy offers various research opportunities for high school, college undergraduate and medical and public health students interested in the injury prevention field. Students learn research and statistical methods, scientific writing skills and principles of injury prevention science in a supportive academic environment under the supervision of senior faculty mentors.
